Homecare Service Requirement
How We Helped
I live on the South coast many miles from my mum in Lancashire; during a weekend visit to see my mum we noticed her memory was starting to deteriorate and that this was affecting her daily life. We shared our concern with mum and she conceded that she was struggling to manage, after much discussion she decided to try having carers visit her. We arranged for mums friend Margaret to stay with her whilst we made arrangements for carers to visit.
When I returned home I searched on the internet for care agencies in Lancashire and found Complete Care Services. I telephoned them and explained our situation, they said that they would come to visit me and mum to discuss her needs and wishes; I explained that I lived down south and was only able to visit at weekends. However, this was no problem and it was arranged that a care coordinator would visit us on Saturday morning at mum’s house.
The visit was very productive and mum was very impressed by Alison, the care coordinator, we arranged a package of care to start the next day. Alison suggested that we contact Lancashire County Council to see if we could get any funding towards mums homecare service; however, I knew mum had significant savings and would be very unlikely to qualify for this.
Alison provided us with prices for the care mum needed and gave us an overall monthly cost. She also explained that this could change whenever needed in response to mums care needs. Alison explained that CCS invoice every four weeks; I explained that I had power of attorney over mums finance so I would be paying the invoice. This was no problem; it was noted that the invoice was to be sent to me rather than my mum and I would pay with a check sent back in the post.
